Ginger Benham, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Benham graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Later, she went on to complete a year-long internship outside of Boston, Massachusetts with the MSPCA – Angell Animal Medical Center, a national and international leader in animal protection and veterinary medicine. She thus became well versed in emergency and critical care medicine among other skills. After completing her internship, she moved to the Washington DC area and went on to practice for 5 years at an award-winning small-animal hospital in Arlington, Virginia.
Feeling it was time for a change of pace and scenery, Dr. Benham began looking for a city that offered a great quality of life, and a hospital where she could practice the high standard of veterinary medicine that she insists upon. By and by, she chose St. Petersburg, and Northeast Animal Hospital, to put down new roots and continue her personal and professional growth. She has been with us since 2011 and truly feels St. Petersburg is home.
Dr. Benham's special area of medical interest is veterinary dentistry. Because of this, she has extensive additional training in this field and sees it as a personal mission to help eliminate dental pain and pathology in her patients. Dr. Benham also enjoys internal medicine and cardiology. In addition, she has been a member of several local and national veterinary organizations. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Benham received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Miami University (Ohio) in 2001.
When she's not working, you can find her on a jet-ski, or at home with her husband Lucas and their beloved pets—their dog Kenzie and their cat Pirate Booty.
